Thavaniyellam--- ( Balajee. )
This is something like mischievous village young brats teasing girls rather enjoyably. Tavil and other percussion traverses well. The opening is heavily inspired from ‘Lalaku dol dapi ma’ song from ‘Surian’. Vivega and Sabesh- Murali never let’s you feel anything new. The closing nadhaswaram is a good finale.
Nee Siruchipakkura--- (Krishnaraj, Ganga)
This song gives a black and white era feel. Looks intentionally given that feel. You are reminded of many songs but particularly ‘Nee pathutu ponalum pakama ponalum’ and ‘Oru Ponnu onnu naan paathen’. But the period feel is enjoyable. Cheeky lyric is cheerful through out. Instrumentation is also very windy 60s type. All said and done this song will be enjoyable if visualization also matches the classic feel.
Kirukku Paiyaa--- ( Sathyan, Prashanthini)
Sathyan sound a bit like Malaysia Vasudevan but this country ballad belongs to Prashantini. She proves she can handle country beats as easy as she handles urban strikes. The songs falls in romantic duet but the pace is unique. Another thing we noticed is a rock feel to village folk. Pick of the album.
Enga Vanthadi Lolayee --- ( Janani, Vinth, Geetha
)
Raunchy lyric sometimes goes overboard but the rhythm and orchestration are foot tapping. This song has too many varieties stuffed in one.
Samy Vanthuruchu ---(Sri Ram, Sabesh)
The lyric suggests the song is pushing the hero to revenge. One to feed the appetite of gana masters Sabesh-Murali. Urumi and nayandi melam ensemble gives a high.
Nee Siruchipakkura (Remix) ---(Geetha, Soojitha)
Just a remix with a few rap bits to emphasise it is a remix. Though called a remix it subtly deviated from the original at many points.
On the whole the album gives a feeling of “I have heard it all before”. But… but Sabesh-Murali has managed to still hold your attention. One thing you must agree is the variety in the album

After performing some sizzling numers in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, popular item specialist Mumaith Khan recently graduated to a heroine by signing a supernatural thriller Pournami Nagam (Tamil), a remake of Telugu hit Punnami Nagu.

The film has considerable computer graphics to elevate Bernard’s camerawork and is getting ready to hit the screens soon. |

| Raavan earns Rs. 20 crore in opening day |
 |
Ace director Mani Ratnam's new release Raavan (Raavanan in Tamil and Villain in Telugu) grossed Rs. 20 crore worldwide on its opening day, its co-producer Reliance BIG Pictures said. All three versions were released simultaneously in about 2,200 screens worldwide on Friday.
The film is getting rave reviews from the audience and critics alike and the New York Times recently remarked it as “a critics’ pick”, a distinction never earned before by an Indian film. |
| |
| Despite all denials from the Raavanan team, the movie is indeed an adaptation of the epic poem Ramayanam, but has been restricted only to the abduction of Seetha episode and some related minor incidents.
The star cast of the film includes Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Southern star Vikram in the Hindi version, while the Tamil version Raavanan features Vikram, Aishwarya and Prithviraj. The Tamil version was dubbed in Telugu to reach a wider audience. The music for all versions is composed by Oscar winner A.R. Rahman and the cinematography is by Santosh Sivan. |
| Mumaith Khan's dual avatar |
 |
Item specialist Mumaith Khan's recent Telugu film Punnami Nagu, directed by A. Kondarami Reddy, is now being remade in Tamil as Pournami Nagam with Mumaith once again in the lead role under the direction of Yaar Kannan, known for his science fiction and horror thrillers. The film is all set to grace theatres soon.
Featuring Mumaith Khan in a dual role for the first time in her career, the film revolves around two Naga Devatas (female snakes), who want to perform a ritualistic dance before Lord Shiva in a bid to save the world from the fast-approaching collapse and annihilation. |
| |
| While they prepare for the special dance, a male snake in their group is killed by some smugglers for 'Nagamanickam'. One of the female snakes (Mumaith Khan) seeks vengeance and waits for a chance to get into the right human body to attain human form and bring back the lost 'Nagamanickam'. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
According to sources, the Tamil remake will have some minor differences from the original. Pournami Nagam will have plenty of dances choreographed by Tara, Ashok Raj, Sivasankar and others. Nizhalgal Ravi, Karunas, Mayilsami, Sampath, Delhi Ganesh and Nalini are in the cast. A lot of computer graphics will be used to enhance Bernard’s camera work. G.K. handles art direction while S.A. Rajkumar composes music. |
